May's on July 13th, 1973

William May started his candy busines in Atchinson, Kansas in 1881. He had a son, Harold May, and taught him the candy making trade.

By the 1930's, Harold and his family settled on Mackinac Island. There he learned to expand his candy business and support his family through the summer & winter seasons.

Harold's son, Marvin May and his family, continued to manage and operate the candy business on Mackinac Island. With five generation of candymakers, the tradition of "Famous Mackinac Fudge ®" still lives on.
